The Impact of Addiction

Research indicates that 100% of males have viewed pornography by their senior year in high school. The average age of exposure is 11.

From a Darwinian perspective, those who practice unrestrained sexuality are selecting themselves and their DNA for extinction. The psychiatrist Norman Doidge in his book, The Brain That Changes Itself says:

“The men (and they are overwhelmingly men) who become hooked on this bilge are often miserable about it. They know that it affects their capacity to love and be loved by real women. Pornographers promise healthy pleasure and a release from sexual tension, but what they often deliver is an addiction, tolerance, and an eventual decrease in pleasure.”

Over time pornography reduces sexual drive with sexual partners, girlfriends, and wives. To test this research, have you ever noticed the tabloids while shopping in your local supermarket? The headlines typically show a scantily clad Hollywood movie star whose husband or boyfriend was caught cheating?

The natural man in me questions the sanity of the husband or boyfriend. The irony of the situation is that neither partner probably entered their relationship within the boundaries the Lord has set. He gave us our sex drive and if we violate its sanctity, He will remove the pleasure, the depth, and the intimacy that could be ours upon obedience.

When a society dissociates sexuality from procreation, as did Greece and Rome, and as men prefer porn and prostitution to marriage and children, their DNA lines will disappear.

  1. That is a really interesting pattern that you have written about the last two blog entires. That their DNA line will disappear. Is your argument that there is less chance for posterity under this?

  3. I think the quote John Holland mentioned is the most interesting to me. I think the Lord has setup this life in a way that the misuse of his gifts takes what would have been a blessing and it ends up being a curse.

It’s a rather stark reality and contrast to the sanctity of what drives the natural man. Pleasure or better said, joy, is the blessing of obedience, even when in the act of receiving satisfaction, pleasure, and happiness. Addiction and a removal of the ability to procreate are the consequences of violating a gift from God.

    thats a consequence if ever.
