Agency: An Exalting Power

God or the Laws of Nature dictate that men are free to choose so we can be tested on how we will act according to our covenant. According to our foreordination (some of which can be found in each of our Patriarchal Blessings), each of us will be given agency, the power to act righteously, during some part of our mortal probation.

Consider the implication of sin. When a person sins, the spirit immediately vacates his person. Sin brings upon an individual darkness and isolation from God. Can anyone act righteously when under the influence of sin?

The greater one’s righteous actions, the greater one’s agency, the greater one’s power, the greater one’s probability of obtaining exaltation.

The power to act righteously can only be efficacious among the righteous. It does not, it cannot coexist with someone who chooses sin. Therefore, having the right to choose cannot be agency if it used as a means to move away from God.

Lucifer wanted neither form of agency, to power to choose or the power to act righteously. He wants man to have no power and he uses force to implement his system.

Consider a government not founded upon the concepts of freedom. What agency does the population have when a government forces its people to follow laws contrary to Nature’s Law under the guise of obtaining security? This is a government using force (Lucifer’s system) versus using the power of freedom (God’s system).
